Not long after that, in 1931, Nevada became the first state to once again allow gambling in small areas. Since then, more states are slowly lifting the ban on gambling, one small area at a time. Indian reservations are also known to house casinos, since they have their own laws, but the federal government has high taxes imposed on the money generated from them instead.

Today, casinos are fairly common in some of the more populated states, Nevada being the most famous of course, and gambling is legal throughout. Gambling, known as a game of chance, not only includes slot machines but also games that might require a little bit of skill as well, such as blackjack, poker, craps, roulette, and baccarat.
